School and city work together to provide internet to students in need

La Porte Community School Corporation officials and Mayor Tom Dermody (right) test the WiFi in the recently connected student parking lot outside of the high school on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. The school corporation received funds through the city's Community Development Block Grant program to help set up WiFi hotspots for students in need of reliable internet to complete schoolwork. With the help of this grant, students can now connect to the internet on all 11 school corporation properties using their school-issued laptops.
