Sarah Polman Named to Valparaiso Plan Commission

Sarah Polman has been named to the Valparaiso Plan Commission, announced Valparaiso Mayor Jon Costas. “Sarah has extensive expertise in planning and community development. We look forward to adding her talents to the Plan Commission,” said Mayor Costas. 

Polman serves as project coordinator for Arctic Engineering and was formerly a partner and owner with IN Architects and Planners where she was active in urban planning for two decades. She earned a degree in mechanical engineering technology from Purdue University. Polman has served in a variety of leadership roles, including as the president of the Greater Crown Point Chamber of Commerce, Drifting Dunes Girl Scouts, Leadership Northwest Indiana and on the executive committee for the American Heart Association. A resident of Valparaiso, Polman is engaged to marry Fred Litke in June and has an adult son and grandsons in the community. 

The Valparaiso Plan Commission, along with the Board of Zoning Appeals, oversees planning and zoning for the city, reviewing rezoning proposals, subdivisions, plat approvals, annexations and overall development within the city. For more information, visit Valpo.us.
