Santa Comes to Downtown La Porte November 30th

la-porte-chamberThe 2013 La Porte Santa Parade comes downtown on November 30, 2013 starting at 12:00pm which officially starts the holiday season in La Porte with a slew of activities all season long. The Parade is also on Small Business Saturday, which is a great opportunity to get out and shop local while you are downtown.

The parade heads East onto Lincolnway from Teegarden Street using BOTH westbound & eastbound lanes of Lincolnway, continuing eastward on Lincolnway to Detroit Street, turning left (north) onto Detroit, turning left (west) onto State Street, turning right (north) onto Michigan Avenue and ends at the Greater La Porte Chamber of Commerce, 803 Washington Street.

As the parade arrives, there will be a tree lighting ceremony featuring over 15 of La Porte High School’s Show Choir performing Christmas Carols. The parade arrives at Santa’s Village, which includes vendors, train rides, the Santa Parade Coloring Contest and face painting inside the Chamber building, free Small Business Saturday giveaways, and visits with Santa in his Chalet.

The winner of the Santa Parade Coloring Contest will enjoy brunch with Santa and $20 BJ Bucks at B & J’s American Café on Saturday, December 14 at 10am. All entries will be mailed to troops oversees this holiday season.

The newly arrived Santa will be in his Chalet every Saturday in December from 11am to 2pm. Other events this holiday season include the Holiday Storefront Competition and 1st Annual Downtown Cookie Walk. For more information on these and other downtown events, like Downtown La Porte on Facebook.
