The La Porte Hospital Daisy Award recipient for extraordinary nursing is Sammy Marquez, Cardiac Cath Lab Nurse. Sammy was nominated by a patient’s family member who shared that Sammy took care of the patient prior to a procedure and his calm demeanor and explanation throughout the prep provided comfort to the family. This family was impressed with the updates Sammy provided when the procedure was slightly delayed for an emergency, and after the procedure. His kindness and dedication to providing the best patient and family experience is the true definition of compassionate care for patients.
