State Representative Tom Dermody and his wife Jackie live in La Porte with their two children, Katie and Ben. Elected to the state legislature in 2006 to represent the citizens of House District 20, Rep.Dermody owns and manages a small business.
Tom is Chairman of the Public Policy Committee and sits on the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee. He is also a member of the Commerce, Small Business and Economic Development Committee where he has worked to promote economic development initiatives for Hoosiers. Locally, Tom serves as a board member for the La Porte YMCA and the Salvation Army. In addition, he was the Past President and Vice President and former member of the La Porte Community School Corporation. Tom has volunteered as a youth athletics coach for several years in La Porte, and has also spent time mentoring at a local elementary school.
The Chamber will also be selecting and honoring the 11th Annual recipient of the Corporate Citizen Award.This award will be given to a local business that has made a significant contribution to the well-being of La Porte.
The purpose of this luncheon is to recognize those Chamber members who have had significant increases in employment, made capital investments in their businesses, or have reached a significant year of service.
