If you’re looking for free family fun, look no further than the Rotary Hub of Awesome Water Ski Show that takes place on July 22, 2017 in La Porte. The show is free to the public and open to viewers of all ages and will take place from 6:00pm - 7:00pm.

The show will take place on Pine Lake and feature the Lake City Skiers, the only competition water ski team in Indiana. The team is based out of Warsaw, Indiana and typically practices and performs shows on Hidden Lake. The show in La Porte offers a change of pace for the community and provides an opportunity to celebrate its unique attributes.

“We are in a unique position in La Porte since we have amazing natural beauty with seven lakes in our city limits,” said Fran Milo, President of the Rotary Club of La Porte. “This is a way for us to highlight that and for people to enjoy the beauty of being outdoors with family. It doesn’t cost them anything to see something different.”

lp-waterski-show-2Bringing something different to town can be hard to achieve, but Milo insists this is the first ski show of this nature to come to the area. It promises to be a great day on the lake as the Lake City Skiers take to the water.

The Lake City Skiers have a tremendous amount of talent and have won numerous awards over the years, including a few national championships. Each performance is a themed production that features costumes, music, and an announcer to lead the crowd through the action. Stunts, jumps, and pyramids are incorporated, as well as many other impressive skills. There is plenty guaranteed to astound the audience. Milo is especially excited to see the show this year.

“I have seen these folks do their thing in Warsaw and they are nothing short of amazing. I can’t even begin to tell you how exciting it is to watch a pyramid with four layers of skiers go by on the water,” said Milo.

Making it even more exciting, the event is free to the public. Kids and adults alike can enjoy the amazing feats performed all while enjoying a day at the beach. Food and drink vendors will be on site as well. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs for seating.

“Locally we do projects to help the community. Last year we completed building a restroom and concessions facility in one of our parks in La Porte,” Said Milo. “Our big thing is bringing together leaders in the community.”

The Rotary Club has helped improve the area in many ways and aims to keep doing so with their service. The water ski show promises to be unique and create many fond memories for those in attendance.
