Sergeant-at-Arms – Mitch Feikes acted as Sergeant today (with Marv Goad wielding the collection basket) and raised money for the club by asking questions about La Porte weather. The hottest day on record was 104 degrees in September 1953, and the record low was -23 in January 1993. Program – Dr. Joseph Rosenblum, DO FACC FACP of Concierge Cardiology in LaPorte –

Sr. Judian Breitenbach introduced Dr. Rosenblum, a practicing cardiologist in Northwest Indiana for 20 years. He is a proponent of wellness and a holistic life style for himself and his patients and is currently exploring the benefits of energy medicine through partnership with Namaste Center. The concept of concierge cardiology arose from the decreasing amount of time doctors can spend with patients in traditional medical settings. D r. Rosenblum meets with patients for 30 minutes, as compared with 10 minutes in traditional offices, in order to offer more personalized health service to his patients. In his remarks, he focused on the risk factors for heart disease including age, gender, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, and genetics/family history. Of equal concern, he said, are the factors of mental attitude and stress. Knowing your risks for heart disease, and reducing those risks through healthy eating, keeping weight under control (no more than 2000 calories per day), exercise, meditation, taking personal time for yourself, “service above self, i.e. giving of yourself to others, are all vital in maintaining your health.
