President-Elect Tyler Smith called the meeting to order and led members in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and the Four-Way Test of Rotary. Mike Sutton offered the invocation.

Christina Dougherty led in singing “Bye Bye Blackbird”. Sergeant-at-Arms – Tyler Smith (assisted by Ron Gigliotti with the basket) raised money for the club with trivia questions about entertainment.

Happy $$’s – Scott West, Ron Gigliotti, Neil Mangus, Dale Parkison, Christina Dougherty District Governor Elect Christina Dougherty will be installed at the club picnic next Monday, June 17. She again stated how proud she is to represent La Porte Rotary in this position. She and husband Doug Busby are attending the Rotary International conference in Lisbon Portugal and she will sing a duet in Portugese with a California Rotarian at that conference. Family Picnic/Installation/Scholarships – June 17 – 5:30 to 8:00 PM

If you have not yet made your reservation for this event, contact Mike Arnett today! The Annual Picnic will be held at the picnic shelter at Legacy Hills Golf Club with catering by Spire Farm-to-Fork Restaurant. Cost is $15.00 per adult and $10.00 per child.

The picnic will include the installation of District Governor Christina Dougherty and we have received RSVP's from several distinguished District Rotarians that will be joining us for this important celebration. It's a great chance to network with others and let the District know how vibrant (and fun!) our La Porte Club is!

Rotary International Foundation – La Porte Rotary is “this close” to having 100% participation in giving to the Foundation this year. If you have not yet made your contribution, please contact Leigh Morris today! Any amount would be appreciated in order to meet our 100% participation goal. Our Club has had an amazing year of support for the Foundation and we thank you for your contributions! We are making a difference locally, nationally, and globally with our Club's many efforts in all directions.

Airport Dinner – Put a place holder on your calendar for July 22 - that is the tentative date.

Program – Dave Kasarda, Director of Operations and Collaborations at La Porte YMCA.

Dave has spent his life involved in and supportive of YMCA which he referred to as a mission-driven, charitable organization that changes communities for the better. Dave comes to our Y after 13 years as CEO of the Portage Y. He cited the three pillars of the Y’s efforts as Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility. He said that although the Y has great facilities and great equipment, it is much more than a “swim and gym”. The Y is “people” and its mission is to improve the community through its many programs for all ages.
