After being in the Marine Corps. from ages 17-21, Wiles took a job at New York Blower in La Porte. However, he quickly realized that the people skills he learned from being an instructor in the Marine Corps. and his newfound discipline would be much more useful to him if he was working in sales. So, he started working at a dealership in the South Bend area and immediately developed an excellent rapport with all of his customers.

This rapport was something that La Porte Chrysler was looking for, so Wiles’ fellow salesmen, Michael Mullen, convinced Wiles to interview at La Porte Chrysler during one of their softball games. Since that interview, Wiles’ positive attitude and determination have benefited La Porte Chrysler for decades.

Another ad that highlighted his sales technique featured his dog, Jazzy, and said, “For a doggone great deal, see my dad.”

His passion for Chrysler products mirrors his passion for sales. Wiles enjoys Jeep Wranglers so much that he bought one himself. “Wranglers are just awesome vehicles because you can do anything with them. You drive them on and off of the road, and they have the best resale value,” said Wiles.

He also enjoys selling the new 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan because it is a “completely new vehicle, has more room, is great for family trips, and it’s really sharp.”

Robert-Wiles-Jr-Benefits-La-Porte-Chrysler-for-30-Years-03Wiles loves to go on trips with his family, especially with his wife, Verna Wiles. In fact, they recently went on a trip to Hawaii. Together, they have raised three boys and two girls, and they have eight grandchildren. Wiles is a great-grandpa as well.

Wiles’ La Porte Chrysler family is just as important to him as his real family. Several salesmen were in his wedding, and Mullen was his best man. General Manager Matthew Magnuson is his son-in-law, and Robert Magnuson, owner of the dealership, considers Wiles to be like family as well. Even Wiles’ customers are like family to him. For instance, every time a little boy would come in with his parents when they needed a new car, Wiles would pull out a small dartboard and play with him.

When he is not selling cars to his incredible customers, Wiles enjoys working out, and he recently got his second degree black belt.

In celebration of his thirtieth year at the company, Wiles would like to thank each and every one of his customers, because “without them, [he] would not have such a great job.”
