Requesting Christmas Donations for Salvation Army of La Porte

salvation-armyThe Salvation Army of La Porte is requesting the community to please consider donating items and/or to organize drives, to help with the 2013 “Christmas Assistance Programs”. Last year 320 families were blessed by this assistance as well as another 80 families who were adopted by others within our community. Plus 460 adults, including seniors, were provided food for a full Christmas dinner including a turkey or a ham!

The Salvation Army is currently taking applications from those that are in need. Applications are available at the Salvation Army until Dec. 6th. Through our Toy Shop Program, each family receives at least 2 Christmas toys per child up to the age of 13, as well as a Christmas Food Basket for then entire family. We are seeking ham and turkey donations that are included in these food baskets.

We are also in needof toys for children age 0-13yrs old. There is always a greater need for toys for the older children age 10-13. We are seeking Ham and Turkey donations to distribute in these food basket.

You may drop off your donations at The Salvation Army of La Porte at 3240 Monroe Street, La Porte, from 9am-4pm, M-F. We would greatly appreciate any winter coats, boots, scarves, gloves, new or slightly used to distribute to those in need within our comminity. The demands are greater for adult coats, both men and woman. We are also accepting clean blanket donations.

On Nov 20th-Radio Station WLOI/WCOE is doing a Drive Up Food Drive in front their offices on State Street, La Porte Indiana. This Food drive will be from 6am-10am and you can drive right up and drop off your food or cash donations. Salvation Army volunteers will be on hand.
