Registration Open for Michigan City Chamber Music Festival Summer Children’s Program: Connecting to Nature through Diverse Music

mccmf-summer-camp-2017Where can school age children connect to nature with nationally recognized artists and perform Beatle’s music, African Spirituals, and American classics by Aaron Copland? By attending The Children’s Summer Choral Experience. This week long camp, sponsored by the Michigan City Chamber Music Festival, (MCCMF), will offer a unique chance to experience music and performance.

Artists/Instructors for this camp include: Kim Jones, soprano of Lyric Opera, who also performs nationally and internationally, Jennifer Muniz, professor of Piano at Indiana University, South Bend, and Sunny Gardner Orbovich, MCCMF Education Director.

This camp gives children the opportunity to expand their minds with new vocal techniques, exposure to a variety of music, along with the one-on-one coaching and training by top artists from our community.

The program takes place July 10-14, at the First Presbyterian Church of Michigan City, 121 W. 9th St., with a morning session for K-5th grade, 9:00-noon; 6th-12th grade, 1:00-3:00 p.m. Morning session includes a daily art class.

On Friday, July 14, all students will meet at 1:00 p.m., for a dress rehearsal of their program. At 3:00 p.m. the students will hold a performance to which families and friends are invited. The performance is free of charge and open to the public.

Space is limited, sign up today! Cost for the week is $50. Scholarships are available, underwritten by the Michigan City Chamber Music Festival, now in its 16th year.
