Region Sports Offers Exclusive Tournament Broadcasts

rsn-logoThe Region Sports Network will have radio coverage from three different sectional sites airing on 90.5 FM WRTW and available online at Regionsports.com, as the IHSAA state baseball tournament gets underway later today.

RSN coverage of the sectional round of the post-season, presented by the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana Chevy Dealers, will feature games from Sectional #1 at Munster, Sectional #2 at LaPorte and Sectional #17 at Griffith.

The broadcast schedule begins on Wednesday with a double-header from Ken Schreiber Field at LaPorte High School, as Crown Point takes on the host Slicers beginning at 4:45. Chesterton vs. Hobart will follow in Sectional #2 play.

“I don’t think there’s a better place to begin our post-season coverage from than Schreiber Field,” Laird said. “It’s the Brickie Bowl of baseball.”

RSN coverage returns on Thursday at 4:45 with the rivalry matchup between Highland and Munster as Sectional #1 begins at the home of the Mustangs.

Friday’s broadcast will come from LaPorte again as the winners of the two games on Wednesday will battle in the semi-finals, with the pre-game show starting at 4:45.

Coverage on Saturday features the championship game from Class 3A Sectional #17 at Griffith High School beginning at 3:45.

On Memorial Day, the RSN will bring listeners two sectional championships, featuring the finale from LaPorte at 10:45 in the morning and the final game from Munster in a prime-time matchup at 6:45.

“We’re going to have a lot of baseball for fans to tune into this week,” Laird said, “and the games during the tournament are always the most exciting.”

Not only can fans listen to all of the broadcasts on 90.5 FM WRTW and Regionsports.com, but the games will also be available by logging on to the website on any brand of smart phone.

For coverage of the sectional sites that the RSN won’t be broadcasting from, fans can “like” the company’s Facebook page at Facebook.com/regionsports or follow them on Twitter, @thersn, where there will be score updates from around the Region.

“Between being able to listen to games on 90.5 FM, on the computer, or on your phone as well as our social media updates, there are so many options to follow the action,” Laird said. “Baseball fans are going to love our coverage this post-season.”
