Region Self Storage Announces Grand Opening and Future Expansion

Region Self Storage, a locally owned complex, is pleased to announce the completion of phase one at its new 13+ acre site located at 8300 Clay Street, at the intersection of Clay Street and Route 30. Phase one features one 11,200 square foot commercial building and five self-storage buildings consisting of 132 units. The complex officially opened on May 20. The development, when completed, will have five – 11,200 square foot commercial buildings and eight self-storage buildings boasting 230+ units ranging in sizes from 10x10 to 10x30. Each commercial building is designed with 10,000 square feet of warehouse space plus 1,200 square feet of office. Each commercial space will be for lease and divisible, if required.

Jeff Eriks, partner at Region Self Storage, had this to say, “This development will be a true asset to the community of Hobart, we want to thank the Mayor, Josh Huddlestun, for his support of the project the last couple years as we fought through some challenges locally but with his help, we were able to be successful, unlike our predecessors. It’s nice being in a community that supports local businesses.”

In partnership with the City of Hobart, Region Self Storage successfully secured site plan approval and commenced phase one of the project in early 2023 and officially opened on May 20, 2024. The development is set to be a significant asset to the community, enhancing storage solutions, providing flex space for lease near I-65 and contributing to the local economy. This development is expected to generate approximately 100 new jobs within the City of Hobart, further supporting economic growth and employment opportunities in the region.

“I’m excited that the partners, Jeff Eriks and Bryan Young of Region Self Storage took a chance on Hobart. This parcel was a challenge to develop due to its layout.” said Mayor Josh Huddlestun. “After three failed attempts by other developers, we were able to get it to the finish line with the team at Region Self Storage. I look forward to continued investment on Clay Street and am excited that we have a good partner. This is how government is supposed to work.”

Region Self Storage will be hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the opening of the new facilities. The event will take place on Tuesday, June 18, at 3:00 PM at the site, and will include remarks from key stakeholders and a tour of the new facilities. Community members and the media are invited to attend and witness the unveiling of this substantial addition to Hobart’s infrastructure.
