Reflections Photography Exhibit to Open Aug. 15

ReflectionsExhibit to feature local photographers

The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority’s fourth annual photography exhibit will open on Thursday, August 15, at the Indiana Welcome Center. This year’s exhibit theme is Reflections, and will feature 107 photographs from 58 local photographers.

Reflections are defined as an image seen in a mirror or shiny surface, a visual expression resulting from careful consideration and a representation of one’s own self. Subjects of the photographs will be geologically located within the area of the South Shore, from Chicago to New Buffalo, Michigan.

The exhibit recognizes local photographers’ talent and allows visitors to see the South Shore from a different perspective,” said Andrea Rivera, exhibit curator and art director for the South Shore CVA.

The exhibit will be on display in the W.F. Wellman Exhibit Hall from Thursday, August 15, through Monday, September 30. Admission to the exhibit is free.

An opening reception will be hosted from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15. The public is invited to meet with Reflections photographers and enjoy light refreshments.

The Indiana Welcome Center is open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. until Labor Day, and is located at 7770 Corinne Drive, Hammond, Indiana 46323. After Monday, September 2, the Indiana Welcome Center will be open seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
