Limited-time offer helps promote recycling, energy efficiency
Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO) has launched a special sweepstakes for participants of the utility’s popular Appliance Recycling Program. The program offers free pick up, recycling and a $35 reward to NIPSCO electric customers who shed old, inefficient refrigerators or freezers. With this sweepstakes, those who schedule a pick up now through July 31 will be automatically entered to win a new Energy Star® stainless steel refrigerator.*
If a spare refrigerator is removed and not replaced, customer energy savings can amount to nearly $100 annually.
More than 95 percent of the appliance is destroyed and recycled in compliance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Responsible Appliance Disposal (RAD) Program, preventing it from entering a landfill.
Since the program began in August 2010, more than 6,500 appliances have been recycled, yielding $227,500 in rebates to NIPSCO customers.
