Nourish to Flourish was a memorable time for the PHJC staff, and myself as I launched my first event on the 3rd month-versary of my employment here with PHJC. It was my honor to bring both my skills and passion to my new community. The convergence of five departments created a vibrant and collaborative atmosphere as we devoted ourselves to the PHJC grounds. We immersed ourselves in the care of the gardens at the greenhouse while connecting with co-workers; some for the first time, working hand-in hand in service. We uprooted potatoes, meticulously pulled weeds, harvested peas, and planted new seeds to one day sprout. The hospitality of the grounds team is also one to highlight! We shared laughs and conversation in honor of the farm-to-fork lunch provided.
With our stomachs full we transitioned into the prayer garden to change gears prior to beginning a journey of self discovery and introspection. Our evening session later began where we then uprooted the unhealthy norm of emotional numbness in adulthood. Through vulnerable discussion, we courageously planted seeds of emotional security and freedom, embracing an entirely new paradigm of authentic expression. Nourish to Flourish stands as a testament to the power of unity, self-reflection, and authentic expression. A day of outer and inner pampering it was, as it exceeded all expectations, leaving an enduring impression on us all; for myself the beginning catalyst of the many spaces I look to create of vulnerability and the exchange of wisdom, and for others—conversations and knowledge that will continue to shape our work environment and foster stronger, more meaningful relationships of those who attended and all who they are connected to.
