Queen of All Saints Catholic School adds three new teachers to its staff for the 2015-2016 school year. Emily Komasinski is the preschool teacher. Maggie Gondeck is the youth minister and the religion teacher for grades five through eight. Patrick Antone is the physical education and health teacher.
Komasinski graduated with a degree in early childhood education from Ball State University in December 2013. She taught one year in a preschool classroom through the YMCA Educare Program. She has seven nieces and nephews who are all younger than 9. It is her close relationship with these children that inspired her to go into the teaching profession.
"It means so much to me to see a child's face light up when they learn something for the first time and they understand the concept," Komasinski says. "It is very important to me that I help the children reach that stage."
Gondeck recently graduated from Holy Cross College with a major in theology and a minor in education. She was on the university's varsity women's basketball team four years. She was named Female Athlete of the Year her senior year and was a member of the Chicago Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Conference Academic Team.
"I now return to my grade school alma mater where I will be sharing my passion for my Catholic faith and my love of education," Gondeck says.
Antone graduated from Valparaiso University with a bachelor's degree in physical education and secondary education. He taught physical education and health for three years at St. Patrick's Catholic School in Chesterton. He is the varsity assistant defensive coordinator for the Chesterton High School football team and the school's head assistant varsity coach. He plays slow pitch softball and works out. He enjoys spending time with family and friends and leading a healthy, active lifestyle. He enjoys sports, especially baseball, football and basketball.
"I am very excited to be at Queen of All Saints and am looking forward to a great year," Antone says.
