Northwest Communication Consulting Searching for Client

Northwest-Communication-Consulting-searching-for-ClientNorthwest Communication Consulting, a consulting firm consisting of students enrolled in the senior-level Problems in Public Relations course at Purdue University Northwest, is seeking a client to conduct a communication audit.

The eight person staff of NCC will assess a company’s communication methods by conducting focus groups, surveys, interviews and benchmarking reports of similar organizations to improve the company’s relationship with its employees, customers, shareholders and surrounding community.

The course has been held at PNW since 1989. Thomas J. Roach, department head of Communication and Creative Arts, has taught the course for the majority of its existence. Previous clients include the City of Hammond, Staff Source, NIPSCO and B.P., among others.

Shawn Platt, Communication Director for Amway and former CEO of Cal Com Consulting, said Problems in Public Relations was the most beneficial class to him during his time at PNW.

“It was the best class I ever took. It was a life changing experience,” Platt said. “It was challenging but in a good way, forced me to grow and understand leadership.”

Nicki Gladstone, former Vice President of Communication for her firm’s audit of The Herald-News in 2002 and current V.P. of New Business Development at Mix Design, said the course helped a lot with what she is doing now in her everyday life.

“The class helped me learn how people work in the real world and how to work together in groups,” Gladstone said. “The class is the most valuable course you could take, provides a platform for professionals.”

Last year’s class, Clover Connection Consulting led by CEO Susan Moody, conducted a communication audit on Staff Source in Hammond.
