Purdue University Northwest Calumet Campus Hosting Program June 27 to Help Job Seekers ‘Work Smarter’

The 29th annual Working Smarter to be Job Marketable program is scheduled at 6 p.m., Monday, June 27 in Alumni Hall of the Student Union & Library.

Working Smarter... is designed to offer insightful, insider information to help enable attendees to jump start or redirect their professional lives in a fast-changing work world.

Individuals searching for a job, others concerned about their pending employment status, those considering a career change, others planning to return to the work force after an extended absence, as well as individuals who are exploring the prospect of starting or taking over a business can gain valuable insights, perspectives, tips and hints during fast-paced presentations offered by PNW faculty and staff.

The Purdue Northwest program will feature the following presentations:

  • Managing Frustration & Stress during a Job Search — Career counselors provide tips and strategies to help you stay positive, determined, focused & productive throughout your job search.
  • Older Job Seekers in a Social Media Search World – Older job seekers can reduce some of the challenges they face competing for jobs by learning how to make social media work for them—specifically, how to create their own social media profile via LinkedIn.
  • Turning Your Hobby into Your Successful Small Business – Many a hobby has transitioned into a successful small business—the definitive word being “SUCCESSFUL.” Learn how to make it happen.
  • Learning to Work Smarter – Find out about the process for pursuing job-enhancing learning opportunities at the newly-unified Purdue University Northwest.
  • Q&A Panel Insights – Direct your questions about the world of work, job pursuit and making yourself marketable to our panel of presenters.
