Purdue-Northwest-Mens-Basketball-Announces-2018-Recruiting-ClassPurdue Northwest men’s basketball head coach Frank Bush recently announced that his recruits for the 2018-19 season have both signed their national letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers at PNW. The class includes a pair of incoming freshmen with one hailing from Indiana and the other from Ohio.

“These are two great additions to our program,” said Bush. “As we continue to improve within the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and NCAA Division II, Anthony and Chase are the types of players we need to bring in to continue that process. I can’t wait to have them both in Pride uniforms.”

Anthony Barnard: 6-5 Forward, Kokomo H.S. Kokomo, Ind. Barnard was the Most Valuable Player (MVP) on the 2017 Kokomo Tribune All-Area Team as well as the 2017 Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA)/Subway Underclass All-State Large School All-State Team and first team selection on the 2017 North Central Conference (NCC) All-Conference Team. He averages 14.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.

“Anthony is a talented player who we expect to be able to come in and compete for playing time right away,” said Bush. “Adding him gives our roster flexibility as he has the ability to play all over the floor. We are thrilled to add him to the Pride.”

Chase Rankin: 6-1 Point Guard, Lincoln H.S. Gahanna, Ohio Rankin averages 15.4 points, 6.2 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.9 steals per game. He is a team captain and was a special mention selection his junior season on the Ohio Capital Conference (OCC) All-Conference Team.

“We could not be more excited to add Chase to our program,” said Bush. “He plays in one of the best conferences in Ohio and his addition helps us continue to pursue our goals of competing at the top of NCAA Division II, both in our conference and nationally.”
