The Purdue University Northwest College of Technology recently recognized two alumni of its graduate program for professional, personal and community accomplishments.
Joseph Uzubell of Munster received the Outstanding Graduate Alumni award for his 18-year career and contributions in technology. Tanima Zaman of Valparaiso received the first Accomplished Graduate Alumni award for superior contributions in technology as a recent Purdue Northwest master’s degree graduate. The awards were presented at the second annual College of Technology Alumni Reception.
Joseph Uzubell Uzubell has worked in project management, IT, consulting, software development and application management.
He is chief information officer of Rail Watchers, a start-up company focusing on railroad safety applications for mobile devices. Uzubell previously served as chief technology officer of EnVisionIT Consulting, Inc.
Uzubell also is a captain in the army reserves; a member of the American Legion, Lions International, Disabled Veterans, Knights of Columbus and Civil Air Patrol; and a volunteer with Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry.
Tanima Zaman
Zaman enrolled as a College of Technology master’s degree student in 2011 and was one of four newly-admitted students to receive a graduate assistantship. After graduating in May, 2013, she became a full-time instructor of mechatronics at Ivy Tech Community College and also serves as chair of Engineering Technology and Electrical Engineering Technology at Ivy Tech’s Valparaiso Campus.
Zaman also has served on the advisory board of the PNW Mechatronics Engineering Technology Program and is on the Graduate Program Advisory Council. She continuously mentors mechatronics graduate students.
