Purdue Northwest Baseball Travels to Lewis Thursday

The Pride (14-14) take on the Flyers (14-19-1) at Brennan Field starting at 3 p.m. (CT) Thursday.

LAST TIME OUT Freshman Kyle Freel (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) had an impressive start on the mound in game one to help the Purdue Northwest baseball team to a doubleheader split with University of Indianapolis Tuesday afternoon at Greyhound Park in Indianapolis, Ind. The Pride won the first game, 4-1, but dropped the second game, 6-2. Freel threw 6.2 innings of the first game and allowed six hits, one run (earned) and a walk with four strikeouts to claim his third victory of the season (3-3).

SCOUTING THE FLYERS Lewis is coming off a doubleheader split against University of Wisconsin-Parkside on April 14. The Flyers are led by Connor Rutherford, who is hitting .339, with 43 hits, eight home runs and 37 RBI. On the mound, Lewis is led by junior Blake Marks, who is 5-2 with a 2.18 ERA and 43 strikeouts.

SERIES HISTORY PNW leads the all-time series, 1-0, when the Pride won 4-1 on March 20. Kevin McCune (Munster, Ind./Andrean) and Larry Crisler (Gary, Ind./Bishop Noll) each picked up a pair of hits.
