"I am so glad you can all be here to take part in this event," said Dwokin."The weather is beautiful and this is the perfect day for everyone to golf."

Despite the fun opportunities to golf and enjoy the day’s festivities, thoughts of Dworkin and his accomplishments were on the mind of many golfers.

“He is quite an admirable individual,” said Tudor Cleaning & Restoration Services Owner James Tudor. “Purdue North Central and Purdue Calumet are going to combine and he had a very large part of that.”

Dworkin’s legacy extended beyond the golfers, with staff members and students also fondly recalling the achievements that Dworkin has brought to both Purdue North Central and Northwest Indiana.

“He completely changed things, he’s done so much it’s going to be a tough act to follow up on,” said Purdue North Central Director of Athletics Tom Albano. “This event that we have today is all because of his participation and planning.”

Albano explained how important that this event was not only for golfer’s but for students and athletes at Purdue North Central.

“This is a great event with some great sponsors that through their contributions, have allowed us to give back to our students athletes in the form of scholarships. By doing this, we can allow our students to go to school, pursue their passion and get a great Purdue degree.

PNC Baseball Team Member Kyle Hernandez has experienced the positive influences that Dworkin’s legacy has left for students and staff.

“He’s done a lot for our school and for our overall program,” said Hernandez. “One of the biggest examples that stands out to me was the construction of the newer buildings that has allowed better access to students. I know these things are going to be helpful to future students.”

Greater La Porte Economic Development Corporation Assistant Development Director Kim Ramsey was appreciative of Dworkin’s legacy and the impact it left on not only PNC but the La Porte community as well.

“Purdue through the chancellor’s guidance has been a huge asset to the community of La Porte through both the growth and combination of the two campuses coming together and the people who work there,” said Ramsey.

As the day continued and the golfers continued to trek through the courses, all were mindful of the perfect weather for golfing and the person who through tireless work and dedication, could make events like this possible.

“It’s a beautiful day and it’s the perfect way to be part of such a great event,” said Tudor.

“Chancellor Dworkin was a huge driver for this event’s success,” said Albano. “He personally goes out to get these teams and sponsors together to make sure this event is as good as it can be.”

“ I’ve known the chancellor for a long time from working in the La Porte community and I can definitely say that he will be dearly missed.”
