Purdue Federal Credit Union (Purdue Federal) had the pleasure of supporting a local organization making a difference in the lives of veterans, first responders, and families. On February 27, 2025 Purdue Federal presented a donation of $2,150 to Courage Rock Stable, raised through their recent Skip-a-Pay promotion. Each year, during December and January, members in good standing have the opportunity to skip a credit card, vehicle loan, or personal loan payment for a small administrative fee. A portion of that fee is then donated to a chosen local organization. For this year’s donation, Courage Rock Stable was selected by an employee vote from a pool of three organizations.
The Purdue Federal team presented the check to Kim Markham, Courage Rock’s founder. Markham and her family established Courage Rock in memory of her son, Seth, a US Army soldier who passed away in 2012. Inspired by the healing and strength she found through equine therapy after Seth’s passing, Markham turned her loss into a mission to help others. Courage Rock Stable now provides equine therapy and education programs for veterans, first responders, and their families, as well as services for individuals with disabilities and summer day camps for children.
Markham shared that the funds from Purdue Federal’s donation would help support key operational needs, including care for the horses, program development, and facility maintenance. During the visit, Markham took the Purdue Federal team on a tour of the stable, highlighting the work her team and the horses do to create a safe and healing environment for participants.
