This week, Purdue Federal Credit Union (Purdue Federal) celebrated Nurse Appreciation Week and Teacher Appreciation Week, honoring the hard work, community impact, and dedication of both nurses and teachers.
To recognize nurses, Purdue Federal hosted a social media contest from May 6 to May 8, where anyone could nominate their favorite nurse through the credit union’s Facebook page. Three winners were selected at random and announced on May 9, each receiving self-care items, Purdue Federal swag, and a gift card.
“To all the amazing nurses out there, thank you for your heart, your hustle, and the care you give every single day,” said Lindsey Kilty, Purdue Federal’s Community Relations Specialist. “At Purdue Federal, we’re proud to support you, along with all healthcare heroes, cheer you on, and celebrate everything you do for our community."
To show appreciation for teachers, Purdue Federal delivered gift cards to high schools with which it has established relationships. The gift cards were sent directly to the principals for distribution to the teachers.
Molly Milcarek, Community Relations Specialist at Purdue Federal, manages the credit union’s relationships with the area’s schools and leads youth initiatives.
“While a simple 'thank you' can never fully capture the impact teachers have on students and our community, it’s a way to honor their dedication,” Milcarek said. “At Purdue Federal, we enjoy working with teachers to provide free supplemental materials and resources that make presenting financial literacy easier and more engaging for students along the way. To all educators, thank you for your passion, commitment, and influence!”
Carrie North, Purdue Federal’s Assistant Vice President of Marketing, expressed the credit union's pride in recognizing both teachers and nurses.
"Purdue Federal is proud to honor the incredible teachers and nurses who work tirelessly each day. Your dedication shapes lives, strengthens our communities, and inspires us all,” she said. “We sincerely thank you for all that you do.”
High schools with which Purdue Federal has established relationships include La Porte High School, Hanover Central High School, Andrean High School, and others. Hospitals and health centers affiliated through Purdue Federal’s Select Employee Groups (SEGs) include Franciscan Health in Crown Point, NW Indiana 24/7 ER & Hospital in Hammond, and others.
