Purdue Extension – La Porte County Hosting Crop Planning Meeting

Purdue-ExtensionFarmers interested in planning for next year’s crop production and learning the latest about fertility and weed management in soybeans are invited to attend a crop planning program on Thursday, Oct. 2, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. (CDT) at the Center of La Crosse in La Crosse, IN. Participants are asked to arrive at 7:30 a.m. (CDT) to register and enjoy a complimentary breakfast.

Sponsored by Crop Fertility Specialists (CFS) of La Crosse, the meeting will feature presentations on soil fertility and weed management updates by Purdue Extension specialists. A representative from Dow AgroSciences will review the new Enlist platform for controlling weeds in corn and soybean. And information will be provided about pesticide recordkeeping, focusing on the requirements to stay in compliance with state regulations and benefits to producers for production management.

Indiana farmers who are private pesticide applicators may receive credit for the recertification of their license by attending the session and paying a $10 PARP fee (bring your PA license to the meeting). Application has also been made for commercial applicator credits and Certified Crop Adviser CEUs.

Those who plan to participate in the meeting are asked to RSVP by Monday, Sept. 29 to Kyle Burgess at CFS/KOVA Ag Products in La Crosse, IN by calling 219-754-2262. Participants may still call after the deadline date to see if space is available.
