Purdue Calumet’s Tulio Ribeiro Named CCAC Player of the Week

PUC-Tulio-Ribeiro-Named-CCAC-Player-of-the-WeekAfter headlining the Purdue University Calumet men’s soccer team in a pair of wins over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponents last week, sophomore forward Tulio Ribeiro was named the CCAC Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office Tuesday.

Ribeiro (Itajuba, Brazil/Colegio Sagrado Coracao de Jesus) had a breakout scoring week in two Peregrine wins last week, scoring his first three goals of the season and adding two assists.

In a 5-1 win at St. Francis, Ribeiro scored the game's first goal in the 19th minute and added another in the 79th. Saturday, Ribeiro assisted on back-to-back plays to give the Peregrines a 2-0 lead and then added a goal in the 60'. With the wins, Purdue Calumet improved to 9-1-1 overall and 5-1 in the CCAC.

This was the first Player of the Week honor for Ribeiro in his second season with the Peregrines and second CCAC weekly honor this season, after sophomore keeper Miguel David (Spring Valley, Calif./Bonita Vista) was named Defensive Player of the Week earlier this season.

The Peregrines will return to action Wednesday, Oct. 14, as they travel to Milwaukee, Wisc. to take on Cardinal Stritch University at 2:00 p.m. CT.
