Purdue Calumet hosts Cardinal Stritch Saturday at 3

PUC-PeregrinsThe Purdue University Calumet women's soccer team will play host to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Cardinal Stritch Saturday in the first contest of a soccer doubleheader for the Peregrines' program.

Purdue Calumet (5-6, 1-3) will take on the Wolves (2-4-3, 1-2-2) of Milwaukee, Wis., beginning at 3 p.m. at Munster High School. The men's teams will follow, with an estimated start time of 5:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT: The Peregrines picked up their first league win with a 2-1 victory over league rival Calumet St. Joseph Oct. 7. Senior Rachel Shmagranoff (Munster, Ind./Munster) picked up her team-leading eighth goal in the win and teammate Michelle Wartman (Dyer, Ind./Lake Central) add her second career goal for the Peregrines.

PEREGRINE LEADERS: Shmagranoff is ranked second in the CCAC in goals (8) and points (19), while teammate Kirsten Nirtaut (St. John, Ind./Hanover Central) is second in assists with a Peregrine-best six assists. Junior Erika Brinkman (Kalida, Ohio/Kalida/Owens C.C.) has spent the most time in goal, recording 66 saves in nine starts, ranked second in the CCAC.

SCOUTING THE WOLVES: Cardinal Stritch is coming off a 0-0 draw to CCAC foe Judson Oct. 7. Anna Stadler leads the Wolves with three goals and one assists, while keeper Kathleen Sauvey has stopped 50 shots in eight games to go along with a 2.16 goals against average.

SERIES HISTORY: Cardinal Stritch defeated the Peregrines 3-0 in Milwaukee in 2013. The two teams did not face each other in Purdue Calumet's inaugural season of 2012.
