Purdue Calumet Athletics Releases 2014-15 Academic Report

PUC-2014-15-Academic-ReportWhile having plenty of success on the playing field in 2014-15, the Purdue University Calumet athletics department showed perhaps its greatest strength in a different area: the classroom.

“I am proud to share the 2014-15 Academic Report,” Director of Athletics Rick Costello said. “Our student-athletes are clearly ‘Students First and Athletes Second.’ Once again, the Peregrines have proven to be leaders in the classroom, competitive field and the community.”

Highlights of the report include:
A 3.02 department-wide grade point average.

19 student-athletes with a 4.0 in either spring, fall or both semesters

56 percent of student-athletes with a 3.0 or higher

74 Dean’s List honorees

10 NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athletes

5 NAIA Scholar Teams (Women’s Soccer, Women’s Basketball, Softball, Volleyball, and Men’s Cross Country)

41 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Selections

2 CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-Americans (Rachel Shmagranoff, Women’s Soccer, and Lori Hass, Women’s Tennis)

The department would also like to recognize the 12 student-athletes who achieve a perfect 4.0 and the 91 who received a 3.0 or higher in their Spring semester coursework. These recipients will be awarded with a place on the Spring Semester Athletic Director’s Honor Roll:

Purdue Calumet offers 12 varsity sports which feature more than 200 student-athletes. The Peregrines compete in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference of the NAIA, while men’s and women’s basketball both compete in NAIA Division II.
