"I am so excited to add Brooke to our roster," Coach Wiejak said of the senior. "She is such a bright young talent who is incredibly gifted on the volleyball court as well as a motivating leader who excels at all the skills.

"She has amazing volleyball IQ and is one of the hardest workers I've ever seen. I expect her to make a huge impact on the court and in the classroom as soon as she arrives on campus."

Ahrens, a four-year letterwinner for Covington, was a very decorated athlete for the Trojans, earning All Bi-County, All-WRC, Commercial News First Team All-Area, MVP and team captain honors in all fours years at CHS.

The 5-foot-8 setter led Covington to multiple Bi-County, WRC and Covington Invitational championships, while helping the Trojans earn a No. 2 ranking in IHSAA Class 1A.

She was also a member of the National Honor society and the Distinguished Honor Roll for four years.

Ahrens will join her brother, Jordan, a current freshman on the Peregrine men's basketball team, at Purdue Calumet next fall.

The daughter of Mike and Julie Ahrens, Brooke plans to major in physical therapy.
