Public Invited to Submit Nominations for 2015 Northwest Indiana Partners for Clean Air Awards

south-shore-clean-cities-logoThe Northwest Indiana Partners for Clean Air is currently accepting nominations for its Clean Air Awards program. The program is held annually by this coalition of Northwest Indiana and Chicago area businesses, industry, and community groups that work voluntarily to promote clean air.

How to submit a nomination The Partners for Clean Air Nomination form is available online at http://www.in.gov/surveytool/public/survey.php?name=Partners_for_Clean_Air_Nomination_Form_r1. The deadline to submit nominations is February 13, 2015.

Nominations can be submitted for Northwest Indiana or Chicago area businesses, towns or counties, industries, organizations, or individuals who have undertaken extraordinary actions to protect the air during 2014. Self-nominations are accepted.

Four awards will be presented in the categories of business, municipal, industry, and “bike,” which will recognize an individual or entity for extraordinary efforts to promote and/or participate in bicycling in the Northwest Indiana community.

The awards will be presented at the 2015 Luncheon & Award Ceremony in April.

About the Northwest Indiana Partners for Clean Air Companies, organizations and individuals become members of the Northwest Indiana Partners for Clean Air by pledging to improve air quality through voluntary actions, projects and initiatives. Examples include reducing tailpipe emissions and hazardous air pollutants, increasing energy efficiency, implementing alternative energy technology, and reducing waste. Partners also promote and subsidize employee programs such as carpooling, public transportation and bicycling, which conserve energy and reduce air pollution.

The partners also work together to raise public awareness, by hosting and participating at various community events and festivals throughout the year. For example, partners have sponsored the purchase of tickets to the Asthma Awareness Event at the Gary Southshore Railcats, which have been donated to various clinics, physicians and organizations that work with asthmatic children.
