Pressel Recognizes Child Advocates at the Statehouse

State Rep. Jim Pressel (R-Rolling Prairie) joined local court appointed special advocates at the Statehouse Monday to celebrate National CASA Day.

“The 4,000 CASA volunteers are the primary voice for vulnerable children involved in the court system and help them face some tough challenges,” Pressel said. “These volunteers are recruited to advocate for children in legal cases and spend a lot of time promoting the child’s best interest.”

According to Pressel, CASA volunteers advocated for 26,763 children last year who were involved in child abuse and neglect cases, and 2,920 children in termination of parental rights cases. Indiana has CASA established within 72 of its 92 counties.

Pressel said CASA is in need of additional advocates. He said to get involved or learn more about the program, visit www.childadvocatesnetwork.org.
