Portage finished fourth out of 13 teams on Saturday behind a winning shuttle relay team of Taylor Sebben, Danny Mills, Avery Sanders and Daveon Finley.

La Porte 2, Lake Central 1 (Baseball)

The Slicers scored a run in the first and another in the seventh to pick up the conference win at home Friday. Mike Eldridge and Travis Upp each drove in a run for La Porte (11-3, 3-2). Eldridge provided the game-winning RBI in the bottom of the seventh.

Evan Miller struck out 10 and walked three on the mound.

Lake Central fell to 6-7, 2-3.

Marquette 3, Bishop Noll 1 (Girls Tennis)

Abigail Schmidt (No. 1) and Stephanie Espar (No. 3) had singles victories for Marquette, while Bishop Noll’s Annalisa Hernandez was victorious at No. 2 singles.

The Blazers won both doubles matches, with Nell McDonnell and Benita Banseviciute at No. 1 and Ari Gatzka and Zoya Ganz at No. 2.

East Chicago Central 10, Marquette 5 (Baseball)

The Cardinals crossed the plate five times in the seventh to pick up the road victory on Friday.

Plymouth 7, La Porte 6 (Baseball)

Visiting Plymouth scored three in the top of the seventh to erase a two-run La Porte lead and win in nonconference action on Saturday.

Jake Watterson struck out seven in the loss for La Porte, who fell to 11-4 on the year.

Juan Frias-Silfa and Trevor Draves each went 1-for-3 with two RBI for the Slicers.

LeRoy Classic (Girls Tennis)

Michigan City and La Porte each competed in two matches on Saturday.

The Slicers defeated South Bend Clay, 4-1 behind a 6-0, 6-2 win from Jill Boger at No. 2 singles and then fell to Penn, 4-1 despite Boger’s 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 2 singles. La Porte now stands at 5-2.

The Wolves were shutout by Penn, 5-0, but bounced back to defeat South Bend Clay, 5-0.

In the win, Michigan City earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 1 singles from Megan Methner and a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles from Kristen Palmer and Paige Cuma.

Lake Central 326, Penn 331, Valparaiso 342 (Boys Golf) 

Valparaiso’s Brandon Hamil was the top scorer with a 79 on Saturday at Warren Course. Victor Lake Central was led by Kyle Theil (80) and Rhett Barker (81).

Portage 12, Michigan City 1 (Softball)

Kaitlin Doud had two doubles, a home run, three RBI and three runs to pace visiting Portage to the Duneland Athletic Conference victory on Friday. Dalton Minor added two hits (including a triple) and two RBI for the Lady Indians.

Kiley Jones struck out four and walked one for Portage (11-3, 6-1).

Portage 14, Michigan City 0 (JV Softball)

Kelsie Kissinger went 1-for-2 with a walk and two stolen bases to earn the game’s most valuable player for Portage.
