The Blazers were victorious in their first game in program history behind goals from Clayton Putzer and Scott Smith. The Blazers will host Angola High School on Wednesday, April 23 in their home opener at 5 p.m.

La Porte 9, Valparaiso 6 (Baseball)

Six runs in the fourth inning propelled host La Porte in the Duneland Athletic Conference match-up at Schreiber Field on Monday.

Travis Upp (2-for2, home run), Matt Pritz (2-for-3, 2 RBI) and Drew Jones (3-for-4, 2 RBI) had multiple hits for the Slicers (9-3, 1-2 DAC). Evan Miller pitched six and two-thirds innings, striking out 13 and walking two in his fourth win of the season.

Justin Duty (2-for-4) drove in three runs for the Vikings (3-5, 1-2).

Valparaiso 165, Marquette 193 (Boys Golf)

Tyler Paholski shot a meet-best 38, but the Blazers were unable to pick up the non-conference road victory.

Thomas Walsh (40) and Jake Pancek (41) paced the Vikings in the win. Jake Woodward and Michael Gallinatti each shot a 41 for the Valparaiso junior varsity squad at Forest Park.

Valparaiso 168, Marquette 287 (JV Boys Golf)

Brandon Hamil shot a 39 to lead Valparaiso. James Wolf and Jacob Stadler each shot 62s to lead Marquette.

Doubleheader scheduled

The softball game between Marquette Catholic and Whiting, originally set for Wednesday, April 22, will now be held on May 12 as part of a doubleheader in Whiting.

Golf rescheduled

Due to conflicts with the golf course in Crown Point, a triangular involving La Porte, Crown Point and Valparaiso scheduled for May 8 will be now be played on Monday, May 12 at Crown Point.
