Chesterton-TrojansChesterton 135, Lake Central 51 (Boys Swimming)

Chesterton beat Lake Central in boys swimming on Tuesday.

On the boys side, the Trojans’ team of Blake Pieroni, Gary Kostbade, Tony Kincaid and Jack Waller got Chesterton off to a solid start with a win in the 200 yard medley relay, finishing with a finals time of 1 minute, 38.76 seconds. The Trojans added individual wins from Patrick Curley (200 yard IM), Waller (50 yard freestyle and 100 yard breaststroke), Kostbade (100 yard butterfly), Pieroni (100 yard freestyle), Andy Hurst (100 yard backstroke) and Ethan Whitaker (500 yard freestyle).

Wesley Slaughter joined a team of Waller, Kostbade and Whitaker for a first-place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay.

Drake Hunt won the diving event for Lake Central with a finals score of 254.20.

Chesterton 127, Lake Central 59 (Girls Swimming)

The Trojans prevailed in the Duneland Athletic Conference dual meet thanks to a win in the 400 yard freestyle by a team of Vanessa Krause, Amy Socha, Andrea Hanas and Kelly Craig. Cara Kroeger was among the individual winners for Chesterton, winning the 200 yard IM with a finals time of 2 minutes, 6.95 seconds.

Lake Central earned individual wins from Holly Spears (100 yard freestyle) and Hannah Leyba (diving).

Whiting 42, Marquette 14 (Girls Basketball)

The Oilers won easily in Michigan City despite a valiant effort from Marquette. The Blazers return to action on Thursday, January 16 when they travel to South Bend Trinity High School. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
