Porter Regional Hospital to Present Heart-Health Awareness Programs Throughout the Month of February, American Heart Month

Feb-2014-Heart-EventsIn celebration of American Heart Month, Porter Regional Hospital will present a series of heart-healthy programs to help educate the community on the prevention and treatment of heart disease – the leading cause of death of both men and women according to the American Heart Association.

Get Heart Smart • February 6 • 6 p.m.

How Clogged Are Your Arteries? • February 13 • 6 p.m.

Coronary artery disease, also known as hardening of the arteries, is a result of plaque buildup in your arteries, which blocks blood flow to your heart and heightens the risk for heart attack and stroke. Clogged arteries often develop over decades and can go virtually unnoticed until you have a heart attack.
