Porter Regional Hospital Presents Community Wellness Programs for September 2013

Get the Facts: Influenza & Pneumonia
Influenza and pneumonia combined are the eighth leading cause of death among all Americans and the seventh leading cause of death among all Americans over the age of 65 according to the American Lung Association. To get all the facts, join Pulmonologist Douglas Mazurek, M.D. and Nurse Practitioner Julia Rogers to learn more about preventing and treating the flu and pneumonia.

The event will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5 in the Community Room at Porter Regional Hospital, 85 East US Highway 6 in Valparaiso.

Boost Your Immunity
Is your body ready to fend off the viruses and germs that may make you sick? Family Medicine Physician Shane Bush, M.D., will talk about everything from eating to exercise, and the simple habits that boost your immunity and help you ward off illnesses.

The event will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Portage Hospital, 3630 Willowcreek Road in Portage.

Could it be Your Thyroid?
More than 50% of the people with thyroid conditions are undiagnosed and continue to suffer with symptoms. Join ENT Matthew Provenzano, M.D., to learn more about your thyroid, how it affects your metabolism, as well as how thyroid disorders are diagnosed and treated.
