Cold... Flu... Pneumonia? When To Seek Treatment for Upper Respiratory Infections
With symptoms ranging from runny nose and sore throat to breathing difficulty and lethargy, upper respiratory infections (URI) are the most frequent reason for doctor visits in the United States. Join Pulmonologist & Critical Care Physician Dr. Douglas Mazurek to learn more about the many types of URIs and when to seek medical attention. The event will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 4 in the Community Room at Porter Regional Hospital, 85 East US Highway 6 in Valparaiso.

The Subtle Symptoms of Heart Valve Disease
If you’ve gradually been finding that simple tasks make you short-of-breath, or that you’re more fatigued than usual, it may be time to get evaluated for heart valve disease. Join Cardiologist Dr. Jay Shah and Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon Dr. Walid Khabbaz to learn more about the subtle warning signs of heart valve disease, the importance of early detection and best treatment options. The event will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 11 in the Community Room at Porter Regional Hospital, 85 East US Highway 6 in Valparaiso.

Battle of the Blood Sugar
Pre-diabetes – higher than normal blood sugar that may lead to type 2 diabetes – is on the rise, leading to an increased risk of heart disease, stroke, kidney damage and more. Endocrinologist Dr. Ashley Therasse will discuss the importance of healthy blood sugar levels and how to prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes. The event will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19 in the Community Room at Porter Regional Hospital, 85 East US Highway 6 in Valparaiso.
