No More Excuses: Reduce Your Risk of Colon Cancer • March 4 • 6 p.m.

A recent study conducted by the Colon Cancer Alliance stated that 70 percent of Americans over the age of 50 fear a colonoscopy. But, why? With colon cancer ranked as the second leading cause of cancer death in the United Stares, statistics show it’s the most effective way to reduce your risk of having colorectal cancer. To get answers to some of the most common questions and concerns about colonoscopies, join Gastroenterologist Dr. Rajeev Tummuru as he discusses the role colonoscopies play in finding and preventing colon cancer.

Following this event, Porter will be handing out a limited number of free take-home colorectal cancer screening kits.

Understanding and Managing Stress • March 13 • 6 p.m.

Stress is a fact of life, but being stressed out is not. We can’t always control what happens to us, but that doesn’t mean we have to react to a difficult, challenging situation by becoming frazzled or feeling overwhelmed or distraught. While everyone experiences stress at times, a prolonged bout of it can affect your health and ability to cope with life. Family Medicine Physician Dr. Annabel Yuen will talk about identifying stress and methods to cope with it.
