Porter Regional Hospital will host an opening reception for its new Center for Women's Health featuring refreshments and tours of the new Center from 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23. The Center is housed on the main floor of Porter Regional Hospital’s new adjacent Medical Plaza at 85 East US Highway 6, Valparaiso.
The Center for Women’s Health offers a comfortable and convenient location for women to access outpatient diagnostic and treatment services with the most advanced technology. The Center includes private suites for digital and 3D mammography, ultrasound and bone density scans; stereotactic and ultrasound biopsy treatment rooms, and radiology reading rooms. Additional space is allocated for private conference rooms and a special computer resource area is dedicated to patient education.
Immediately following the opening reception, Porter’s Healthy Woman program will present "Genetics of Breast & Ovarian Cancer" at 6 p.m. in the Community Room at Porter Regional Hospital. During the presentation, Dr. Janice Zunich, director of the Genetics Center at Indiana University Northwest will discuss which factors in a woman’s family and medical history may indicate a predisposition to develop breast and ovarian cancer.
