Porter Health Care System Offers Emergency Medical Services Class

Emergency-Medical-ServicesPorter Emergency Medical Services will offer an Emergency Medical Technician – Basic Course (EMT-B) beginning Nov. 4, 2013 through May 28, 2014. The class will be presented on Mondays, Wednesdays and an occasional Saturday, from 5 to 9 p.m. at EMS Station 2, 2206 LaPorte Ave. in Valparaiso.

The cost of the course is $900, which includes the price of the text book, shirt and the required assessment kit, and must be paid in full by Oct.10, 2013. Additionally, the completed course application must be received by Oct. 1, 2013. Completed applications may be mailed to: Dale Lanham, EMT-P, EMS Coordinator, 2206 LaPorte Avenue, Valparaiso, Indiana 46383.

Course prerequisites/requirements include:

  • Must be 18 years old by April 1, 2014
  • Must undergo a 10 panel drug screen and background check prior to patient contact
