Portage Parks Department to host market on the square this summer

Music, crafts, food and movies will once again fill Founders Square Park here beginning July 10.

The Portage Parks and Recreation Department will host Market on the Square every Friday from July 10 through Sept 11 at the downtown park, located just north of Central Avenue and west of Hamstrom Road.

The market will be held from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and feature vendors selling unique crafts, breads, jams and food.

Music will begin at 6 p.m. featuring bands from throughout the Region.

Dan Reisen will kick off the entertainment on July 10 followed by DJ and Kris from stop.drop.rewind on July 17; Strings Beyond Description on July 24; Ally Christian on July 31; DJ and Kris on Aug. 7; Katthouse on Aug. 14; John "DonDo" on Aug. 21; For Pete's Sake on Aug. 28; Strings Beyond Description on Sept. 4 and Dan Reisen on Sept. 11.

Free family-oriented movies will begin each Friday at dusk.

"Frozen 2" will begin the series on July 10. "Teen Beach Movie" will be shown July 17, followed by "Toy Story 4" on July 24; "Princess and the Frog" on July 31; Incredibles 2 on Aug. 7; "High School Musical" on Aug. 14; "Shrek" on Aug. 21; "The Rugrats Movie" on Aug. 28; "Judy Moody and the Not so Bummer Summer" on Sept. 4 and "Trolls" on Sept. 11.
