Police Food Drive to Benefit the Salvation Army Food Bank

salvation-army-logoIn the spirit of giving we are organizing a food drive campaign to assist the community that we serve and protect. We have partnered with Mayor Ron Meer and the 2014 Salvation Army Campaign Chairperson, Dr. Barbara Eason-Watkins to conduct a “Food Drive Campaign” to assist the Michigan City Salvation Army Food Bank. Starting today, Thursday December 11th through Friday December 19th we are seeking donations of canned goods, boxed goods (cereal dry goods), or monetary donations to assist us in donating and purchasing food for the pantry.

Donations should be dropped off at the Michigan City Police Department and monetary donations can be directed to our Administrative Assistant Mandy Imhof (874-3221 ext#305 mimhof@emichigancity.com). Also starting this Sunday Officer Douglas Samuelson has organized a campaign to collect food and donations at the Dunkin Donuts location in Michigan City through next week that will also support the Salvation Army. We would like to encourage every police employee, city employee, friends and family of MCPD to donate to this great effort. In speaking with Lt. Bruno of the Salvation Army yesterday afternoon he informed us that the pantry is very low and our assistance is much needed.

Please clean-out your kitchen pantries or donate a few dollars to this important campaign. Next Friday December 19th we plan on delivering an entire truckload of food to the Salvation Army in the afternoon. Thank you for your continued support of our community outreach programs and Happy Holidays to all.
