PNW Student-Athletes Continue to Excel in the Classroom

PNW-Student-Athletes-Continue-to-Excel-in-the-Classroom The Purdue University Northwest Athletics Department has surpassed its highest semester grade-point average with the Fall 2018 academic report. The Pride posted a new benchmark semester grade-point average of 3.29.

In addition, PNW Athletics had 28 of its student-athletes earn a perfect 4.0 GPA, with 71 percent of student-athletes recording at least a 3.0 GPA.

“Students First, Athletes Second. I am so proud of the academic performance of the Pride,” Director of Athletics Rick Costello said. “The student-athletes attention to detail, focus, and enthusiasm for excelling academically is impressive. A big thank you to the PNW Faculty and Staff for creating an amazing learning environment. Well Done PNW!!”

“Our student-athletes have continued the positive momentum built from the culture of academic excellence within their sport programs in having a banner semester in the classroom,” Associate Athletic Director for Academic Services and Senior Woman’s Administrator Jen Madgiak said. “I am proud of all their continued efforts.”

The Pride women’s basketball team continued their dominance in the classroom, posting the top team grade point average for the Fall 2018 semester with an impressive 3.65 GPA. Women’s tennis was next with a 3.58 followed by softball (3.47), men’s golf (3.42) and men’s cross country (3.40).
