PNW Social Work Students Inducted Into Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society

Purdue-Northwest-colorFourteen Purdue University Northwest social work students recently were inducted into the inaugural cohort of the newly founded chapter of the Phi Alpha honor society on the Westville Campus.

The inductees are Rebecca Blankenship of Valparaiso, Jamie Dillon of Westville, Tristan Fletcher of North Judson, Lauren Georgeff of Valparaiso, Hannah Jumche of Michigan City, Janet Miodragovic of Crown Point, Kendyll Pennington of Wheeler, Kasey Rebhein of Michigan City, Kayla Shifley of Porter, Phoebe Sutherland of Granite City, Ill., Stephanie Terravecchia of Lake in the Hills, Ill., Rachael Welch, of Rolling Prairie, Amber Wolf of Hebron and Madeline York of Valparaiso.

About Phi Alpha Phi Alpha is the international social work honor society. Because the PNW social work program is in candidacy for becoming an accredited Bachelor of Social Work program, the faculty applied to create the Chi Kappa chapter of Phi Alpha.

Phi Alpha Honor Society seeks to provide a closer bond among students of social work and promote humanitarian goals and ideas. It fosters high standards of education for social workers whose members have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work.

Qualification requirements To qualify for induction students must declare social work as a major, achieve sophomore academic status, complete nine semester hours or 12 quarter hours of required social work courses, achieve an overall grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale and earn at least a 3.25 GPA in required social work courses.

Chapter members will meet and engage in fundraising and service learning endeavors.
