Purdue Northwest concentration in Environmental Health and Safety recognized The Environmental Health and Safety concentration within Purdue University Northwest’s baccalaureate degree program in Organizational Leadership and Supervision (OLS) has been designated as a Qualified Academic Program (QAP) by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals.

The designation enables graduates of the program concentration to be eligible to apply for the Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP) designation. GSP designation is a highly respected level of preparation for future safety professionals and a path to gaining Certified Safety Professional certification.

“Obtaining Qualified Academic Program status allows our graduates to become more marketable when applying for environmental health and safety positions,” Associate Professor of Organizational Leadership and Supervision Shoji Nakayama said. “QAP also distinguishes our program from others because our students do not need to sit for the Associate Safety Professional certification exam prior to taking the Certified Safety Professional exam, which is the ‘Gold Standard’ of safety certification.”

PNW’s Organizational Leadership and Supervision Environmental Health and Safety concentration furthers knowledge vital in preventing incidents/accidents, illnesses, fires, explosions and other occurrences that harm people, property and the environment.
