PNC Presents “The Unseen” Art Exhibit by Ginny Scott

pnc-GinnyScottThe Purdue University North Central Odyssey Arts and Cultural Events Series will present the exhibit "The Unseen" featuring the work of artist Ginny Scott June 1 through July 30 in the first floor, north study area of the PNC Technology Building. It is free and open to the public.

Building hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.; Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the school semester; otherwise the building is closed on Sunday.

The show features abstract art pieces done in acrylic. Scott explains that her art expresses what is invisible and visible as an energy force within the painting. Use of color, form and structure creates movement and action within the painting.

Scott and artist Mindy Marie, who will have her abstract collection "Omnium Gatherum" in the PNC Library-Student-Faculty Building student lounge, Room 062, will be honored at a reception on June 13 at 5:00 p.m. in the Library-Student-Faculty Building Assembly Hall, Room 02. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artists and view their artwork. Refreshments will be served. On display in Assembly Hall is the show "Images From the Closet Trunk" featuring the work of Preston Jackson.

Music will be provided by Keith Scott on the acoustic guitar. A blues guitarist, songwriter and bandleader, Scott has played professionally for more than 25 years in the United States and Europe. He has played with blues Legends such as Jimmy Dawkins and A.C. Reed and is a regular at Chicago's House of Blues.

Ginny Scott, who has a studio in La Porte, has been a professional artist for most of her life. She was a juried member of New York Artists Equity before relocating to Chicago and recently to Indiana. Her work has exhibited widely and has earned first prizes and honorable mentions in many exhibits. She is a juried member of the Area Artists Association of the Lubeznik Center for the Arts, Michigan City; a juried member of Northern Indiana Artists Inc., South Bend; a member of the Berrien Artist Guild at the Box Factory for the Arts, St. Joseph, Mich.; and the Chesterton Art Gallery, in Chesterton. She's taught art in all of her studios and organized gallery shows for her students.
