PNC Golf Outing Helps Fund Scholarships

PNC-StatuePurdue University North Central recently held its "Chancellor's Invitational" golf outing to help raise funds to benefit PNC Athletics programs and PNC Alumni Association activities.

The event attracted a record 60 teams of golfers to Sand Creek Country Club in Chesterton. A silent auction and reception followed the day on the course.

"We had a tremendous response from PNC alumni, friends, supporters and the business community wanting to come out for a fun day of golf at a great location for a great cause," said PNC Athletics Director John Weber.

The PNC golf outing has been the main source of revenue for athletic scholarships, which help with recruitment and retention of student athletes. A portion of the proceeds from the outing will also support alumni scholarships as well as PNC alumni association activities that provide engagement opportunities for students and alumni.

Major sponsors included Lakeshore Landscaping, Inc., St. Mary Medical Center, University Park Apartments, Maklease, Inc., Shoreline Aggregate, Inc., Gehrke Technology Group, Inc., Horizon Bank, IBEW Local 531 and Teacher's Credit Union.

The first place team from Walsh and Kelly included Jeff Swan, Marty Norville, Ron Rex and Doug Robertson. Second place team members from Gehrke Technology were Greg Gehrke, Jim Sallee and Scott Parsons.

The 2013 golf outing will be Monday, Sept. 16 at Sand Creek Country Club.
