Pie in the Face Benefit Held for Michigan City Salvation Army

PieinFace2On Wednesday night a fun, worthwhile and intriguing benefit event was held at Buffalo Wild Wings in Michigan CityThe Michigan City Salvation Army benefited from this Pie-in-the-Face fundraising event.  Many members of the LaPorte County community were willing to take pies to the face for a great cause.

The event also produced a lot of laughs and a great time.  Richard Warner of Visual Impressions Photography and LaPorteCountyLife.com was on hand and captured many great photos of the evening.  Be sure to check them out!

Many attendees took advantage of the opportunity to stuff a pie in someone’s face in exchange for making a $5 donation.  Among the community members that were willing to take pies to the face were representatives from Chrysler in Michigan City, Horizon Bank, LaPorte Savings Bank, Chase Bank and Bosak Honda.  Two local police officers were also pied, as was the owner of Platinum Gymnastics in Michigan City.PieinFace1

“It was an idea that I had when I used to work at Buffalo Wild Wings,” Tom Padros said.  “One night we decided on a whim to stand outside and let people throw pie in our face for $5.”

It took just 40 minutes in the rain and snow to raise $300 the first time Padros gave the idea a try.  The next year they expanded the idea to involve a lot of local businesses and raised almost $2000.  Another year later, the amount ballooned to almost $3000.

Buffalo Wild Wings donated gift certificates to give away during the benefit.  It also offered the company that raised the most money 100 free Buffalo wings.PieinFace3

The support of local businesses made the event possible.  All the money raised goes directly to the Michigan City Salvation Army food pantry with all funds staying local.
