Peregrines Men’s Basketball Falls to Holy Cross, 88-68, Saturday Afternoon

PUC-Mens-Hoops-Falls-to-Holy-Cross-86-66-Saturday-afternoonThe Purdue University Calumet men’s basketball team dropped a 86-66 decision to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Holy Cross College Saturday afternoon.

The Peregrines (4-5, 0-4 CCAC) were led by junior guard LaBradford Sebree (Kokomo, Ind./Kokomo) who racked up 22 points while connecting on 5-of-10 shots from beyond the arc. Darric Obinger (Munster, Ind./Calumet Christian) recorded 13 points and pulled down seven rebounds and Ryan Rader (Lombard, Ill./Willowbrook added nine points and four rebounds.

The Saints, (5-4, 1-2 CCAC) started the game off with a 12-9 advantage, but a trifecta by Chandler Spring (Covington, Ind./Covington) evened the score with just under 13 minutes remaining in the opening half.

Holy Cross would jump ahead on a small run, but the Peregrines would answer back to get within two, 24-22 with six minutes to go before the break.

The Saints would go on a 16-4 run to end the half and take a 40-26 lead over the Black and Gold.

Purdue Calumet battled with Holy Cross for the remainder of the second half, but the Saints would pull away late and come away with an 86-66 win over the Peregrines.

The Black and Gold outrebounded the Saints 37-29 while each team connected on nine three-point field goals for the game.

Purdue Calumet will return to action on Wednesday, Dec. 2, as they travel to take on IU South Bend in a CCAC match-up at 6:30 p.m. (CT).
